| Abstract: | Treatment of [RuHL (5)] (+) (L = PMe (2) Ph) with phenylacetylene in ethanol yielded the dimerization of HC=CPh to (Z)-1, 4-diphenylbut-3-en-1-yne. The molecular structure of [Ru(eta(3)-PhC(3)CHPh)L(4)](PF6) (L = PMe(2)Ph) (2) shows a seven-coordinate environment at ruthenium; the eta(3)-butenynyl moiety is both sigma- and pi-coordinated to the metal centre. Low-temperature P-31 NMR data for some [Ru(C=CR)L(4)](PF6) complexes with R = Ph, CO(2)Et, SiMe(3), (t)Bu and L = PMe(2)Ph are discussed. |
