dc.description.abstract The Thuba Makote (TM) Programme, initiated in 2002 by the Department of Education and managed by the CSIR, was developed to introduce and pilot innovative approaches to school building design, construction and operation in order to address the need for both high quality education and community development support in rural areas of South Africa. It consisted of the construction and / or renovation of nine schools, one school in each province. en
