dc.description.abstract |
In this paper, a stand-alone application with graphical user interface (GUI) developed for monitoring AC induced corrosion expectancies of buried pipelines near a high voltage AC transmission line is presented. A Rand water site, South Africa, was used as a case study. The interface was based on estimating the AC induced corrosion risk assessment indices for buried pipelines near existing overhead high voltage transmission lines using Carson’s concept of mutual impedances between both the pipeline and transmission circuits. The GUI was developed using MATLAB software and have been tested to process user input data from field measurements in such site. The developed application permits the evaluation of the AC induced corrosion risk assessment indices and may be particularly useful in the analysis of AC induced potential on buried pipelines. |
