The formulations from both systems were spray dried to obtain free-flowing powder. For the PLG system, an increase in the temperature of the inlet drying air resulted in decreased particle size, as well as increased absolute zeta potential (surface charge) and encapsulation efficiency, whereas the alginate-chitosan system showed a decrease in the particle size, absolute zeta potential and encapsulation efficiency.
