The researchers are utilising the biological principles and materials of photosynthetic light (energy) harvesting and transfer, ATPsynthase, ATP production and Kinesin motor protein movement. It has been designed in a modular concept with three sections: energy trapping (light harvesting) and transfer; energy conversion to produce ATP; and mechanical translation.
