The influence of different parameters during the callus induction phase was examined with respect to the regeneration rate: (1) the concentrations of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) and various cytokinins; (2) the addition of AgNO3; (3) the use of maltose or sucrose as a carbon source. Modifications in the phytohormones alone resulted in the regeneration of fertile sorghum plants at high efficiency.
