This paper explored the impact of AI on the realism and prevalence of deepfakes. Therefore, this study examined how AI advancements in machine learning and generative models have facilitated the creation of increasingly convincing deepfakes. The analysis looked at the rise of hyper-realistic deception and the societal impact of deepfakes. In addition to recognizing the challenges, a framework was developed for the detection of deepfakes. Finally, this study discussed the potential mitigation strategies, such as the development of deepfake detection tools and fostering media literacy.FulltextenDeepfakesArtificial intelligenceMachine learningGenerative ModelsDisinformationMedia LiteracyArtificial Intelligence impact on the realism and prevalence of deepfakesConference Presentation28154
