Interface information transfer between non-matching, nonconforming interfaces using radial basis function interpolation. 10th South African Conference on Computational and Applied Mechanics (SACAM), 3-5 October 2016, Potchefstroom, South Africa978-1-86822-673-3http://hdl.handle.net/10204/918110th South African Conference on Computational and Applied Mechanics (SACAM), 3-5 October 2016, Potchefstroom, South AfricaIn this paper we outline the use of radial basis function interpolation (RBF) to transfer information across non-matching and nonconforming interface meshes, with particular focus to partitioned fluid-structure interactions (FSI). In general, transferring information across a non-matching interface presents itself as a nontrivial problem. RBF interpolation, which requires no global connectivity information, provides an elegant means by which to negate any geometric discrepancies along the interface. The aim is to investigate the feasibility of RBF interpolation, with a strong focus on a comparison between a conservative and consistent formulation.enRadial basis function interpolationNon-matching interface meshFVM-FEM couplingInterface information transfer between non-matching, nonconforming interfaces using radial basis function interpolationConference PresentationBogaers, A.
