Orlando, USA. 21-25 September 2009Modelling and simulation can be applied to support Joint Command and Control (JC2) which involves the interoperability of network-centric systems as well as legacy command and control systems. It is assumed that software will always be the glue between these systems and that a capability is required to demonstrate, support and evaluate interoperability. This paper discusses the layered software architecture of a C++ software application framework for developing applications that support the Command and Control Enterprise. The framework provides for both interoperability and modelling and simulation – the modelling and simulation features of the framework can provide for key interoperability support capabilities that would otherwise not exist. Applications that have been built using the framework are also described.enLayered software architectureNetwork-centric systemsC2 EnterpriseModellingJoint command controlC++ software application frameworkSimulation interoperability standards organisationSISO 2009Layered distributed simulation architecture to support the C2 enterpriseConference PresentationDuvenhage, A., Kourie, D., & Hancke, G.
