Accelerated Pavement Testing (APT) 2008, Third International Conference, Madrid, Spain, 1-3 October 2008,http://hdl.handle.net/10204/3073Accelerated Pavement Testing (APT) 2008, Third International Conference, Madrid, Spain, 1-3 October 2008The objectives of this paper is to provide guidance on the practical management of temperature (pavement and loading tires) in Heavy Vehicle Simulator (HVS) tests, the potential effects of these temperatures on the outcomes of the test and the links between these APT data and practical application of the outcomes of the tests. The paper starts with general background on the effect of temperature on the loading conditions and response of HMA materials, methods to manage it during APT testing and the general phenomenon of temperatures in practical pavement engineering. It then focuses on each of these specific aspects with practical guidelines for the simulation of temperature conditions on APT and the application of the outputs of the APT in real conditions. The outputs of the paper should be relevant to both HVS and APT practitioners as well as pavement engineers who need to apply the outputs of APT in practical pavement engineeringenAccelerated pavement testingtire inflation pressureTemperatureLoading conditionsSimulation of temperature conditions on APT of HMA mixesConference PresentationSteyn, W., & Denneman, E.
