Guidelines for the development of training manuals focused on the safer use of underground machinery. Safety in Mine Research Advisory Committee, COL 341, July, 1997, pp 1-127http://hdl.handle.net/10204/1420The project was focused on the development of guidelines for the training of operators using high risk underground coal mining machinery. During the survey conducted it was noted that the multi-ethic nature of the machine operators made training and instruction extremely difficult. It was however concluded that literacy is only an essential element should reading and writing necessary to perform that work in a correct and safe manner. However competence can only be judged to be adequate when the individual being trained has complete understanding of the language of training.enSIMRACCOL 341Safer use underground machineriesCoal minesGuidelines for the development of training manuals focused on the safer use of underground machinery.Conference PresentationPurdy, G., Van Breda, C., Strohbach, H., Raath, J., Godfrey, H., & Kruger, M.
