Report 32 of the Estuaries of the Cape, Part 2: Synopses of available information on individual systems series, edited by Heydorn, AEF and Morant, PD. Stellenbosch: CSIR. (CSIR research report 431)0 7988 3503 6http://hdl.handle.net/10204/3484Estuaries of the CapeIn this report available historical information on the Verlorenvlei Estuaries is presented. Verlorenvlei and its environs form a unique natural assts which should be conserved for the use and enjoyment of the generations. There are few areas in South Africa which provide the opportunity to combine conversation of the natural environment with the culture which developed in association with it. Furthermore, the rich archaeological resources of the region provide an insight into the pre-European way of life in this part of Southern Africa. It follows that a holistic approach to the management of the area is necessary to safeguard both the natural environment and the cultural historical heritage. It is hoped, therefore, that this report will provide some of the information and stimulus necessary to ensure the protection of Verlorenvlei.enEstuaries - South African estuariesMarine ecologyCape estuariesCoastal researchRiver catchmentAbiotic characteristicsBiotic characteristicsVerlorenvlei estuaryFloraFaunaCSIRCouncil for Scientific and Industrial ResearchNRIONational Research Institute for OceanologyVerlorenvlei (CW13)ReportSinclair, S., Lane, S., & Grindley, J.
