Renewables were mainly driven by the United States, Chinese and Japanese markets. This presentation's focus is on the Integrated Resource Plan (IRP 2010) of the power generation mix for South Africa until 2030. Solar PV and wind are the cheapest new-build options per kWh today, and a fully dispatchable mix of PV, wind and flexible gas can supply the demand similarly in the same reliable manner as the coal mix.
