Finding value in waste: Identifying opportunities for growth in a secondary resources economy

Abstract

Moving the South African waste sector away from landfilling provides recognised social, environmental and economic opportunities for the country. This paper presents some of the key findings emerging from research undertaken by the CSIR on the waste and secondary resources economy over the past five years, in support of the transition to a green economy.
