The concept of green buildings is in response to the built environment's high negative environmental impact, including its contribution towards greenhouse gas emissions and the resultant climate change. At its core, the green building movement strives to create buildings that are designed, constructed and operated in such a way to reduce the direct and indirect negative impact of development on the environment and its inhabitants.
