The hazards involved in taking an aircraft from concept design to first flight are not fully comprehended by non-flight test qualified pilots. The FAA published and Aeronautical Circular with basic guidelines. This work was expanded to cater for the South African experimental aircraft community as an education tool in an effort to support the Civil Aviation's efforts at improving safety in the flight testing of homebuilt and experimental aircraft.
