| Abstract: | Vanadium oxide-silica catalysts can effect the partial oxidation of methane to formaldehyde with extremely high activities and the space time yield (STY) can reach a value in excess of 800 g kg-1cat h-1; bare silica also shows appreciable STY value up to ca. 300 g kg-1cat h-1. |
