This is an updated version of CSIR Report no ME 1763 entitled "Instruction manual for the use for the CSIR triaxial rock stress measuring equipment" by F A Vreede. The manual contains a detailed description of CSIR Triaxial rock stress measuring equipment and instructions for its use. The overcoring technique employed for the determination of the absolute stress in rock is described. The manual contains a detailed description of the components of the equipment and complete instructions on the in situ technique.
