This report looks at the ground motion from 24 small magnitude seismic events recorded at various points inside a backfilled stope. The in-stope ground motion is compared to that recorded at an off-reef site. The seismic events are analysed according to peak ground velocity, spectral peaks and vibration times. The results from this study, together with the results from previous work on ground motion analyses in backfilled and conventionally filled stopes, show how backfill can reduce the overall ground motion of seismic events.
