Nanotechnology is a multidisciplinary field covering the design, manipulation, characterisation, production and application of structures, devices and systems at nanometer scale (1–500-nm-size range) which, at this size range, presents with unique or superior physicochemical properties. This scale represents the size of atoms, molecules and macromolecules. Nanomedicine is the application of nanotechnology in medical sciences for imaging, diagnosis, drug delivery (nanocarriers) and therapeutics used for treating and preventing disease.
