dc.description.abstract A new method for object detection using region based characteristics is proposed. The method uses correlation between features over a region as a descriptor for the region. It is shown that this region descriptor can be successfully applied to object detection and tracking problems. An attractive property of the method is that region characterisation, region matching and localisation can be done sufficiently fast to use the method in a real-time system. en
