dc.description Estuaries of the Cape en
dc.description.abstract This report is one of a series on Cape Estuaries being published under the general title "The Estuaries of the Cape, Part 2". The report provides information on sand estuary: historical background, abiotic and biotic characteristics. It is pointed out that Sandvlei must be seen as an area in which human interests have priority. However, this does not mean that the natural components of the system are unimportant to its well-being. Sandvlei should be used as a model and laboratory for the management and study of estuarine wetland systems subject to intensive human activity. en
