dc.description.abstract |
The current worldwide economic crisis needs strong global leaders who are able to breath new life into the economy in a way that will focus on the need to create jobs as well as stabilise the climate change, increase food production using less water and pesticides, and stimulate economic growth with greater equality of incomes. These leaders will have to address the economic, environmental and social issues of today with firm determination and create strong global alliances. Policies, regulation and legislation will have to be implemented worldwide with the support of all governments. "Green" has become buzzword in its own right. Companies claim to be "green" and scientists try to measure the effects of "green technology on the job market", but what does it mean? In general, "green" means that something is good for the environment and that it is sustainable. This chapter looks at the green economy, green building, green technology and green jobs |
