| Abstract: | A novel method of function approximation using an initial value, linear, ordinary differential equation (ODE) is presented. The main advantage of this method is to obtain the approximation expressions in a closed form. This technique can be taught in the classroom to undergraduates that have completed a first course in ODE using DERIVE or some other computer algebra system (CAS), because of the computing power available today. It can also be included in an ODE course as an “application” of ODE using DERIVE or some other CAS |
