dc.description.abstract |
The aim in this paper is threefold: firstly to gain an initial understanding of rainwater chemistry in the northeast of Uruguay; secondly to identify possible sources that contribute to its chemical composition; and thirdly to establish a baseline record against which possible changes in rainwater chemistry due to changing emission characteristics may be observed. The statistical techniques of factor- and cluster analysis are used to apportion sources that contribute to the chemical composition of rainwater collected in 1999 and 2000. Trajectory analysis is used in a case study to identify the source area associated with black soot observed in rainfall September 1999. |
