Develop international links for cooperative research in coal mining with special emphasis on interaction with international experts for developing industry guidelines for the design of pillars in coal mines

Abstract

The original intention of this project was to sponsor a number of non-researchers to attend the workshop. In this particular case, that would have been of little benefit as no definite knowledge in a practically usable form was released. The benefit was restricted to research as opposed to application, and in that sense it was beneficial to sponsor a researcher to attend. However, there could well be other events in the future with a different slant, that should also be attended by non-researchers
