Mine planning and design involves the compilation and integration of all relevant geological, geotechnical, mining, engineering and economic data into a single document to define and describe the exploitation strategy for a particular mineral or coal deposit within acknowledged and identified legal, financial and regulatory requirements and constraints. The primary objective of any mining plan should be the effective integration of all the activities involved in the overall mining process that will meet predetermined targets with regard to health, safety, environmental, productivity and unit cost criteria.
