| Abstract: | This document serves as a comprehensive national traffic calming guideline, compiled to assist traffic engineering practitioners and road authorities with the implementation of traffic calming. It outlines the different objectives of traffic calming and provides a policy framework on traffic calming. It also describes the administrative and management procedures required to meet policy objectives in the implementation and monitoring of traffic calming in urban areas. Related legal requirements, liability, and general management and maintenance of calming measures are covered. The processes required in evaluating and prioritising applications for traffic calming measures are defined. A methodology to be used in the selection of calming measures is given and the geometric layouts of typical measures are provided |
