Report on 3 boreholes drilled on the farms Driefontein 70 and Rolfontein 40 in the Amersfoort district and Nooitgedacht 105 in the Ermelo District of Transvaal

Abstract

This report investigates 3 boreholes drilled on the farm Driefontein 70 and Rolfontein 40 in the Amersfoort district and Nooitgedacht 105 in the Ermelo District of Transvaal. Coal cores were used for description and sampling, taken from the Lower C seam in borehole Nl screen and was subjected to float and sink tests at a specific gravity of 1.58. The aim of the investigation was to assess the thickness measurements of boreholes and give results and recommendation of the appropriate measurements, to be applied when constructing these boreholes in the areas.
